Honing in On a Personal Style
But it get's hard when I'm trying to decorate my room and I want to mix a little bit of everything. Or when I can't fit all of my clothes in the tiny dorm closet. I don't want to be limited to one style of clothing; I like being able to dress preppy, like I'm from another decade, or just however I want. I appreciate that I have the freedom to dress as a please also, especially after 7 years of school uniforms. It can also be frustrating when trying to post on Instagram. I desire that "curated-looking" feed so much. Or being able to have a specific aesthetic that's still true to who I am. But having an eclectic style doesn't really allow for one specific aesthetic because it's never just one thing.
Because I'm redoing my room, I'm trying to embrace that eclectic style while also trying to identify what is the eclectic style to me and how can I create something cohesive while still holding true to what I like and am drawn too. Decorating a room with an eclectic style is more difficult for me because I have to create something cohesive. Of course change every once in a while is an option, but it's not as fluid as changing an outfit. Additionally, while I'm decorating my room now, one day I'll be decorating a house where cohesiveness is important on a larger scale.
I guess all of this is just coming with the underlying pressure of my impending adulthood. And maybe I'm wrong about all this and worrying about nothing. If you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them! What's your style? Do you have trouble identifying your style? Did you choose to mix styles?
Much Love,
Jac
