Dressing to Impress (Myself) + The First Day of Halloween

In line with Brit Morin's "Give It a Week" challenges, I've been going a different route and creating my own challenges for self-improvement. These past couple weeks, I've just been in a funk. I've only really wanted to wear my leggings and various shirts, I've worn makeup in forever, and I hadn't shaved in God knows how long. So this week, it's time I pick myself back up. As a result I've been creating outfits, wearing makeup, and putting a little more effort into my appearance. This stems from a couple of psychology ideologies to help me feel better. First of all, when you look in the mirror and think "Damn, I look good," or something of the like, it's easier to have a better day. Secondly, get up and putting on clothes that I would never sleep in and makeup, which I also wouldn't sleep in, helps me feel more awake and energized.

As for this outfit (from yesterday), I subconsciously dressed for Halloween and I regret nothing. I've always loved October for so many reasons. Firstly, it's Spooky Season! Halloween is right around the corner, and I've always loved for things to be a little spooky. Second, I love fall with most of my heart! Living in the Louisiana for the past 7 years, I haven't really had fall in a while so I'm so excited to experience the season again! Even though I've always felt like fall should start when school does (I don't know, it's just a connection I've always made), October means that fall is *actually* coming. Lastly, October is also my birthday month, and while my birthday isn't necessarily my favorite day, it is kind of exciting to be a year old :)

Lastly, now that I feel like it's okay to finally share all my spooky favorites, or rather how I'm already celebrating, I thought I'd share first that I've been watching American Horror Story with Anna (also a great bonding idea!), but, also I've been listening to my Halloween Spotify playlist and my Fall Spotify playlist. I also decorated a little, which you'll see later (after I post my dorm tour!).

Much Love,
Jacquelyn
P.S. Shout out to Anna for taking these pics!
